چکیده

Abstract Enteropathogenic E. coli (ETEC) is a common infection in neonatal and nursery pigs resulting significant economic losses from morbidity, mortality, production inefficiencies. Due to the plasticity of its genome, can be particularly challenging manage swine systems. Populations are continuously changing their genome content via multiple methods genomic modification better adapt compete within ecological niches intestinal tract. This ability acquire genetic information allows individuals populations exchange virulence antibiotic resistance genes, developing into disease-causing ETEC strains that difficult with therapeutic antibiotics other antimicrobial methods. Virulence genes associated harbored healthy usually result disease when individual four or more virulence. Monitoring enumerating gene pool U.S. commercial herds indicates incorporating potentially pathogenic population entirety may effective strategy than focusing on mitigation.

The Rhomboid Protease GlpG Promotes the Persistence of Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli within the Gut

Extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) strains are typically benign within the mammalian gut but can disperse to extraintestinal sites to cause diseases like urinary tract infections and sepsis. As occupation of the intestinal tract is often a prerequisite for ExPEC-mediated pathogenesis, we set out to understand how ExPEC colonizes this niche. A screen using transposon sequencing ...

Loss of virulence genes in Escherichia coli populations during manure storage on a commercial swine farm.

Confined livestock production farms typically store their wastes prior to land application. Here, we employed three complementary approaches to evaluate changes in the population structure and stability of virulence genes in Escherichia coli during manure storage on a commercial farm that housed healthy swine. Isolates were genotyped by repetitive extragenic palindromic PCR using the BOXA1R pri...

Isolation of lytic bacteriophages against pathogenic Escherichia coli strains in poultry in the northwest of Iran

In this study, 90 internal organ samples of poultry with symptoms of colibacillosis were obtained from Maragheh poultry farms in East Azerbaijan, Iran. In total, 70 bacterial isolates were confirmed as Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains using standard biochemical tests, and antibiotic sensitivity was determined by the disk diffusion method. Antibiotics used in this study included ampicillin, pe...
